Raw Part 1

jovana web

model Jovana Bogatic (Pride Models)
photographer Nichol Brooklyn (ie yours truly)

I am currently experimenting with a new modelling portfolio style
and am totally in love with it.
I love this whole raw/natural kinda images

barely any make up or even hairstyling
it's just so pretty, so natural
so personal style of the models.

Took a spontaneous snap shot of Jovana
before she left town to become an international model in Hong Kong.

Best of luck, girlie =)

Frankly speaking, I am no big fan of dark photography. All these Tim Burton wanna-bes who self-proclaim that their blood spilling, dark make up extravaganzas, outrageous suicidal dramatic images as photographic art has totally turned me off.

Enough said.

But I guess I was wrong.
The art of 'dark photography' is indeed really beautiful if one could nail it in perfection.

Meet
Luis García Craus, this talented young photographer from Spain. I was totally amazed at how he sculptured and captured the art of dark photography and fashion so beautifully. It's dark and bold, yet so elegant and classy at the same time.

And that's just inspiring!

Happy Wednesday, everyone!!!

Tattoo - Black & White
MUA/Body Art: Aleisha Gannon
Model: Lexy Stevens
Photography: Nichol Brooklyn

And finally, I'm done with the editing of my Hedi Slimane plus film photography inspired black and white shoot. It is indeed yet my another work with minimal equipment, using only natural lighting, with no flash, or studio lighting. Pardon me for the delay, I've been on my photographer's block recently.

Somehow I am getting sick of all these little things - guidelines, rules of thumb, judgements, framing, rules, technicals. And lastly, the unseen general rules in digital photography which states that a good photograph is one that is highly air brushed until the model looks like a 3D porcelain doll. Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against air brushing, they are awesome images but I'm currently obsessed with film photography, especially its soft touch and grainy effect in the images. It's just a personal preference =)

It's almost 6am now. Time for bed. Hope that I'm getting my appointment letter soon.

Have a great day! Will post up weekends photos that I took with the Not So Naked girls - Amanda and Chanelle at the BMW Fashion Clothing Exchange soon.

PS: Lexy looks like Angelina Jolie =)
Sorry for the technical difficulties in viewing the pictures this noon, I was supposed to replace the old ones with the newly enhanced ones, but I totally forgot about it while answering a call from Dan of 'And Or With' and rushing to Mark's studio.

Jennifer Hawkins: Candid, B&W and Vintage

Jeniffer Hawkins BnW final

This is absolutely a candid shot that I took off Jennifer Hawkins when I saw her at Cosi Swimwear Launch about 2-3 weeks ago. She's definitely a stunner! I just can't stop but falling in love with black and white portraiture again =)
